PORTLAND, OR: After Chase Headle,y second baseman Matt Antonelli is probably the best known of the Padres’ prospects. Antonelli had a big year in Lake Elsinore/San Antonio in 2007, hitting with power, posting a near .400 on-base percentage and showing that he handle second defensively.
With Fort Wayne’s game cancelled due to rain and San Antonio enjoying a rare Sunday off, only two teams were in action on Sunday. Wade LeBlanc and Enrique Gonzalez each get losses, as the Beavers are swept. Corey Kluber gets hit hard again and the Storm offense is dormant for the fourth time in six days.

The Tampa Bay Rays have been on the winning side of most of their games lately—15 of their last 22, to be exact. The reason for the Rays’ success is fairly simple, though: pitching and defense, again proving the old adage—good pitching beats good hitting—true.
Backed by a one-hit complete game from James Shields in the series opener, six shutout innings from Scott Kazmir and stellar bullpen work on Saturday night, and Carl Crawford's 3-for-5 performance in the finale, the Tampa Bay Rays swept the Los Angeles Angels this weekend. Tampa Bay improves to 21-16, five games above .500 for the first time in franchise history.
