Eugene, OR: Wednesday night’s match up between the Everett Aquasox and the Eugene Emeralds, which featured a combined 20 runs and 22 hits, was a hitter’s showcase—Thursday night’s game was a completely different story, as the Everett Aquasox (7-6) beat the Eugene Emeralds (5-8) 3-0 in a game that featured just eight total hits.
The Fort Wayne TinCaps finished June with an impressive 18-7 record and system leading 2.97 ERA. The Lake Elsinore Storm led in strikeouts with 235. San Antonio induced the most double play grounders with 23. But who took home individual honors. John Conniff is on the case.
The Fort Wayne TinCaps belted a system leading 21 homers, the Lake Elsinore Storm led with 151 runs scored and 126 walks drawn and three teams had an on-base percentage over .360. Who would win the monthly awards at each level and take home the grand prize? John Conniff settles the riff-raff.
Will Inman gives up three homers in a loss. Eric Sogard goes yard to keep up the hot hitting. Nick Schmidt gets hammered over 1.2 innings. Stiven Osuna was sharp and Brad Brach closes it out. Matt Jackson has a perfect game through five but the Emeralds lose. Jonathan Alia hits his first homer. Alvaro Aristy reaches four times in a DSL Padres loss.
LAKE ELSINORE, CA: Carlos Lezcano has managed in the Padres organization since 2003, when he started with the old Idaho Falls Padres in the Pioneer League (short-season). He is now entering his third year with the Storm, having made the playoffs each season.

Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a hit-and-run car crash early this morning. The tragic crash came hours after Adenhart threw the best game of his short major league career.
Most of the headlines about baseball players’ salaries involve sums of money that most people could never fathom earning.
